The model is equipped with 32-layer MLC V-NAND UBX – the controller of the second generation of Samsung on 128 Gbytes and the software for monitoring of Samsung Magician. The drive provides AES enciphering (256 bits) for data security. The Dynamic Thermal Guard technology ensures functioning of the device in the range of temperatures from 0 to 70 °C. The model bears blows to 1 500 G during 0,5 ms and vibration to 20 G.

It is formal M.2 represents a mobile kind of the SATA Express protocol described in the SATA 3.2 specification. This interface can be compatible to the devices working under the SATA, PCI Express and USB 3.0 protocols. Supports M.2 to four PCI Express lines while SATA Express connectors transfer data only on two such lines. Payments have identical width in 22 mm, but at once five options of length: 30, 42, 60, 80 or 110 mm.
М.2 can have several keys notches at once that does them compatible to several types of slots at the same time. The key like B located instead of contacts with numbers 12-19 means that in the slot no more than two PCI Express lines are brought. The key of type M taking contact positions 59-66 means that the slot possesses four PCI Express lines and therefore can provide higher performance.
M.2-плата has to not only approach by the size, but also have an arrangement of keys, compatible to the slot. Keys limit mechanical compatibility between different connectors and payments of a form factor of M.2 and interferes with the wrong installation of drives in the slot.

Today slots of M.2 are represented by the most perspective for SSD: they are capable to provide the highest flow capacity among all existing options of connection of solid-state drives.
What is NVMe?
The most serious problem for SSD today – passband limiting of the old buses Serial ATA and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS). Flow capacity of the latest SATA-III makes 600 MB/s, data transmission rate of Serial Attached SCSI (SAS 12G) makes 1,2 Gbytes / page. Modern SSD are capable of bigger.

Two new solutions 2U Virtual SAN Ready Node only on created based on SSD flash-drives, in architecture of Ultra (SYS-2028U-VSNF series) and TwinPro (SYS-2028TP-VSNF) support to 480 virtual computers in 4 nodes.

Unlike the OEM drive of Samsung SM951-NVMe progressive three-dimensional MLC V-NAND is the cornerstone of 950 Pro. In SM951 the flash memory, made on 16-nanometer technical process is used normal planar.
Very important: in the UEFI BIOS motherboard the NVMe-driver for loading of OS from 950 Pro has to contain.
950 Pro in some cases can be warmed rather strongly – at the maximum load this SSD is capable to select to 6-7 W. At the same time, marks out anandtech.com, it is not a serious problem. The official position of the software vendor to this occasion is as follows: "Temperature of 950 Pro increases up to upper limit only in case of continuous, long and difficult loading which is not characteristic of client SSD. Decrease in performance at consecutive single record on the drive about 100 Gbytes of data can hardly affect normal users somehow. That is, in case of use of the drive as a part of the normal PC the problem of an overheat is improbable".

Servers and M.2
In the majority of the M.2 servers it is possible to put only via the riser card PCIe which is put through a rayzer-payment. We did not manage to find such payments available in Russia, but it is probable, the situation will improve soon as on Ebay, aliexpress and many other places they are on sale much.
For server applications use of such drive will allow to accelerate considerably work of the database (especially large reference books), to add IOPS for system of virtualization and to use them in the form of a cache of pictures/JSON given with an amount up to 512 Gbytes, for example, - objects and other that cannot get into RAM servers. The price of a question is only 13000 rubles for 256 GB of the version and about 30000 rubles for SSD on 512 GB.
